Restoring an MGB

Between 1972 and 1982 the British Touring Car Championship ran to International Group 1 regulations.  In 1975 the regulations changed from a "stock showroom" specification to a more modified approach permitting modified suspension, engine and gearbox components among other things. We have sold our Capri.  We have purchased an ex Dave Price Racing Rover SD1, one of the 1980 - 1982 cars.  After 1980 they were run under the TWR banner.

The car is currently in restoration, but will enjoy a fully developed V8 from JE evelopments, with works close ratio gearbox and suspension.

Our MGB was built from an extremely rusty shell purchased on E Bay in 2009.  David Axisa at Paulerspury Coachworks built the car using panels supplied by MGB Hive.  The car was originally supplied by University Motors in London in 1965.  Ken Clarke Motorsport race prepared the car with assistance from MG Motorsport.  The aim was to race in the Spa 6 hours in September 2011.  This was achieved with some success.  Having qualified 98th the car was finally classified 46th after 6 hours of running without a problem.  The drivers on this occasion were; Anthony Robinson, Ken Clarke and Peter Mallett.
